I am a recent graduate from University of Rhode Island, with a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science (3.84 GPA), with minors in Creative Writing and Mathematics. I am taking a gap year to apply for Fall 2027 as a PhD student. I want to major in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, or Applied Linguistics. My goal is to use computational methods for language revitalization of Indigenous-American languages. In the long-term, I hope to reciprocally empower communities with as much tools and knowledge as possible. In addition, reconciliation is just as valuable.

My interest in languages started with beginning my journey in studying the Ukrainian language to communicate with my long-at-last reunited distant family. From there, my curiosity led me to the world of language revitalization, and the vast, culturally and morpho-syntactically rich world of the Indigenous languages of the Americas. I believe that one should learn the languages of the places one lives or visits, after all. Down the line, I have decided to try and sharpen my Spanish, too, especially for reading the literature on languages. As someone who enjoys research and academia, language research seems like a good way to take advantage of my CS background, while also doing something fulfilling and rewarding for myself and others.

My interests besides linguistics and languages include reading, writing (mainly short fiction and poetry), traveling, Dungeons & Dragons, biking, playing tabletop and card games, and learning about history, anthropology, global affairs, and horticulture.
